It's a fairy tale, gone bad... Or isn't it?

First of all, this little review which actually is more to be a preview, contains spoiler. So if you haven't watched the Pilot  of NBC's Grimm, I recommend that you leave right now! Seriously, leave dude... Oh, you think you can handle a few spoilers? Allright then, here we go.

The fuzz is there, David Greenwalt (executiv producer and writer of Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and X-Files) works together with Jim Kouf (producer/writer whose work includes Con Air, Angel, National Treasure and the cultural mix of Asian and Black Dude better known as Rush Hour) and Julie Herlocker in the role as co-producer, to bring NBC's new fantasy series Grimm.
I'm just done with the Pilot witch was actually pre-released by NBC (thanks for that) for people like you and me to get a sneak-peak of this new series. My first judgemental decision about it is:
good with potential in becomming another hit series like Buffy.

So, let's get into it. Episode 1 comes with a lot of informations of what to expect in the further development of Grimm:
First of all, three minutes in the episode, we allready have a dead body of a young female, torn into lots and lots of peaces. Well, giving the fact that "Sweet Dreams" might not be the best music choice for a teenage girl to go for a run, it's defnitely a kick-ass intro into a new fantasy series that is all about stories, especially stories which are part of most childrens dreams. Ok I got to admit, I still have dreams of the Red Ridding Hood, having this hot girl running in the forest with nothing on than a red hoodie and... Wait hold on, not talking bout this now... After the little introduction that episode 1 is clearly about the Red Riding Hood, we get introduced to Nick Burckhardt, played by David Giuntoli and his partner Hank Griffin played by Russel Hornsby. We immediately get that Nick Burckhardt found his great love and is about to marry her. Which gives us a good look at Nick's character, especially compared to Hank who allready had three failed marriages and doesn't mind a quick look at some random hottie from the streets. This gives us two quietly different main characters to start with. The calm but serious nice guy from your neighborhood and the crazy spirited wild guy from next door. It might be a far holded catch, but I do see some Rush Hour similarities, which is actually a good sign, especially for the humorous part of the series.
A little later into the episode, Nick gets a surprise visit by his aunt, which is basically his mother, cause his parents died when he was 12. Her being close to death, she has to reveal the family secret, that Nick isn't just a normal guy and that his parents didn't die in a car accident (oh gosh, that's like The Vampire Diaries), shortly followed by a little fight scene where the almost dead auntie shows off her fighting skills, which Nick doesn't seem to have since he simply shoots the atacker dead.
Anyway, the new family secret ruins Nicks proposal and he has suddenly other things in his mind than his wife-to-be, like reading all this old books in his aunties trailer, next to a closet full of medievil-weapons and stuff. Not only does this implement that this love story of Nick is going to be troubled, also is he told by his aunt that he has to leave his girlfriend, because his life will become anything else than save.
To round up our group of good people, Nick meets an Werewolf named Eddie Monroe played by Silas Weir Mitchell, who isn't into killing any more and is, with having his aunt in a coma, the only person who Nick can talk about him being a Grimm. So I guess this relationship is going to build, having Eddie becomming some sort of teacher for Nick.
The end reveals that Nicks police lieutenant isn't all good, or even better seems to be some sort of leader of the bad people, acompliced by the little hottie Hank couldn't get his eyes off at the beginning of the episode.

There we have a lot of different relationships to build the story around, we have a beautiful look to the series, we have people in the background who were able to pull off success series in the past, and we have some solid special effects for a TV Show by HIVE-FX. The first episode gave me a "oh this is kind of satisfying and nice to look at" feeling, which leads me to watch episode 2, as soon as aired. For all you guys out there, here is a four minutes trailer of GRIMM

I'm gladly looking forward to see Nicks life getting more complicated each episode, finding new friends, deepening friendships, kill some awesome characters comming out of the Grimm stories and some beautiful cinematography with an awesome "fairy tale mixed with urban lifestyle" feeling to it.

This series has potential, even if we've seen stuff like this before, to become one of knightASTICS "have-to-watch" series.

Interested? NBC officially airs Grimms premiere October 28th.
